Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Embryo Cryobiology and Reproductive Sciences is committed to maintaining originality, academic integrity, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts are expected to present original work and properly acknowledge the contributions and sources of others.

1. Originality

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript contains original scholarly work.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously.
  • The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  • All sources, ideas, data, and previously published materials are properly acknowledged.
  • Authors have the necessary permissions to use copyrighted material where applicable.

2. What Constitutes Plagiarism

Plagiarism may include:

  • Copying text from another work without appropriate citation.
  • Presenting another researcher's ideas as one's own.
  • Using previously published data without proper acknowledgement.
  • Reproducing tables, figures, images, or other materials without appropriate attribution or permission.
  • Submitting another person's work under one's own name.
  • Substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure.

3. Similarity Checking

Manuscripts may be examined using appropriate plagiarism or similarity-checking methods during the editorial process.

A similarity score alone does not necessarily establish plagiarism. The editorial team may consider the nature, extent, context, and sources of the identified similarities before making a decision.

4. Self-Plagiarism and Text Recycling

Authors should avoid substantial reuse of their own previously published text, data, figures, or results without proper acknowledgement and disclosure.

Where previously published material is necessary, authors should clearly identify and appropriately cite the original source.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submissions. Proper citation should be provided whenever authors use:

  • Published research
  • Ideas or concepts developed by others
  • Direct quotations
  • Previously published data
  • Figures, tables, images, or other copyrighted materials

6. Action Before Publication

If significant plagiarism or inappropriate text reuse is identified before publication, the journal may:

  • Request an explanation from the authors.
  • Ask the authors to revise the manuscript.
  • Return the manuscript for correction.
  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Conduct further investigation where necessary.

The action taken will depend on the seriousness and circumstances of the concern.

7. Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism or serious duplication is discovered after publication, the journal may take appropriate corrective action, which may include:

  • Publication of a correction.
  • Expression of concern.
  • Retraction of the article.
  • Notification of relevant parties or institutions where appropriate.

8. Proper Citation

Authors should give appropriate credit to the original sources of information and ensure that references are accurate, relevant, and complete. Citation should not be used to misrepresent the originality or significance of research.

9. Artificial Intelligence and Originality

The use of artificial intelligence does not remove the author's responsibility for originality. Authors must carefully review AI-assisted content, verify information and references, and ensure that generated or reused material does not constitute plagiarism or copyright infringement.

10. Commitment to Academic Integrity

The International Journal of Embryo Cryobiology and Reproductive Sciences is committed to preventing plagiarism and protecting the integrity of the scholarly record through responsible authorship, appropriate citation, originality checks, and proportionate editorial action when concerns arise.
