Where research involves animals, authors should follow applicable institutional and regulatory requirements for animal welfare.

Authors should describe relevant ethical approval and procedures for minimizing unnecessary pain, distress, or harm where applicable.

8. Use of Biological Materials

Authors must ensure that biological samples, reproductive cells, tissues, embryos, or other research materials are obtained, stored, transported, and used in accordance with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

The source and relevant permissions should be appropriately documented when required.

9. Data Protection

Research data should be collected, stored, analyzed, and shared responsibly.

Authors should protect confidential and sensitive information and comply with applicable data-protection and privacy requirements.
